Out of all the properties to create an MMORPG from, the beloved Japanese 30-year-old Sanrio character Hello Kitty would probably be at the bottom of the list — I just can’t wrap my head around that. Of course, that didn’t stop Sanrio from going all the way with Hello Kitty Online.

When I saw that I had a Sanrio press release in my inbox earlier today, I just assumed it was something silly like another HK diamond ring or a $2,000 necklace, and so I passed over it. I’m sure glad I gave it another look, as I may have missed an opportunity to check out the most mindblowing MMO ever conceived.

Today kicks off a closed-beta launch of Hello Kitty Online. This adorable MMO features characters from the Sanrio universe, including Badtz-Maru, My Melody, Keroppi, and many more, all running about a Sanrio fantasy world. Travel around Tokyo, Paris, Moscow, or even Flower Kingdom; build a house; and even craft tools and… weapons? Yes, Hello Kitty Online features MMO staples like monsters, combat, and experience points.

On top of that, there’s customizable avatars, guilds, skill systems, and even a player economy. When launched, HKO can be downloaded and played online for free.

If a Hello Kitty MMO sounds like the best thing ever to you, you should head on over to the official Web page to sign up for the closed beta, but be prepared for a face-melting cute explosion. The music actually left sugar crust in my ears.

Hola Gamers!

Well, I have been pretty busy these days, so I haven’t been doing a lot of gaming. My husband and I are getting ready for another trek across the country, we are going back home to MI. So in preparation for that we haven’t been playing WoW , or anything for that matter, because when you have to pack up your life and move it somewhere, you have other things to do, unfortunately.
But during our 24 hour trip across the country, my DS will be my best buddy. Speaking of DS, I have found a great site that sells great accessories and imports for the DS!

http://www.renchi.com/

From fashionable cases, to Nintendo themed (and any other console) plushes it is a great shopping site for gamers who love to accessorize! I haven’t bought anything from the site yet, but know of people who have and they love the quality of their products, and love that you can kind things on the site that you cannot find anywhere else! I mean look at this Totakeke plush! Adorable!

The plans for the social network are unfortunately on hold until we get our place together. I think with the time I will have on hands looking for a new web job, getting this project started will be a great thing to work on. Stay tuned.

Hello Gamers!
It’s been a while since I have done a real update, so here goes.

For the past few months, I have been playing WoW again. After my 6 month hiatus, I logged on to find my long lost paladin, Meglia, had mysteriously reappeared after losing her a year ago. Has anyone else ever have a toon dissappear completely and then come back before?

I was excited. I lost her at level 18, she was my first toon - the very first I ever made and actually learned to play the game with - and she looks exactly like me. I forgot how fun it is to be a paladin. I have mostly been playing in battlegrounds with my 29 Priest - so going from melting faces to bashing their heads in — quite a change. All in all, I have had time to play her up to 21 - and mostly I have been getting her blacksmithing and mining levels up.

Which leads me to the best add on ever: Gatherer. What did I ever do without it?! This addon uses a database that records where you have found that particular item in the past so you can check for respawn. And as an added bonus, there is a database already compiled that you can download to start from.

Did you know the Loch in Loch Modan has many underwater veins just waiting to be mined? I haven’t had to buy copper, tin, silver or bronze bars from the auction house since downloading this addon. It’s awesome. I like not having to wonder aimlessly, hoping to run into a ore vain. I can also see how this will help with my herbalist, Millalie, but I haven’t tried it with her yet. Check it out!

As you can see, I am not really a addon freak - I am more of a purist when it comes to games. No cheating, no walkthroughs, no help. That might be why I haven’t finished a game in a year.

Anyway if you want to say hi, I am Scarlet Crusade (US) and her name is Meglia.

More updates soon, as Hubby and I finally got Guitar Hero for Christmas, and have been melting faces in a totally new way.

I recently received a bonus at work, and what does a gamer girl do with her bonus cash? That’s right. I finally bought an XBox 360!!!

It was a really good deal, for 499 at Gamestop - I got a brand new 360 20GB, an extra controller (which is pink!) and 4 games. The system came with 2 games - Project Gotham Racing and Ultimate Alliance, and I went ahead and added Bioshock and Beautiful Katamari. Both of which are great games - and I will reviewing them soon.

This weekend, I am just getting used to the new system, and enjoying every bit of it. I have an XBox silver membership that came with the system my gamertag is pdxmlb. You bet I will be spending the 50 and getting the yearly Gold membership.

All in all, I am really impressed by this system. It’s like a Wii on crack. I love it. The graphics are crazy good, since I have been playing my original XBox for the last month, I can totally see the difference. And it may even prompt us to get an HDTV (Which are on sale at Target this week! BTW!) and enjoy them even more…

Ahh! I am so excited. Okay, back to playing, and I will update later.

Found in my husband’s The New Warriors comic book #5:
Description:
Bring all the action of the popular video game to life with these full-size replica weapons that perform just like the ones in the game: vibration, sounds, lights and recoil, all packaged into heavy metal and plastic bodies. These realistic weapons even offer the most intricate features; when the Plasma rifle “overheats,” the heat exchange flanges open from the side!An infrared beam and included target register hits on an LCD counter, allowing you to recreate the game with friends; capture the flag, team battle, free-for-all… the endless possibilities!! Find out has what it takes to be Master Chief!!

I am extremely proud of this blog, and I do regret that I haven’t been writing a lot on it, but for those still subscribed, I thank you! And now, an update.

I have been RL busy, with work (being a web developer) and with home life (being a wife) so the only gaming I have been getting in is replaying the first Halo, and spending an hour or two a week on My Sims for the Wii.

I haven’t been so lucky to have gotten a 360 yet, and to tell you the truth I don’t know where I would put it with all the systems I have now! So, to soothe my Halo 3 jealous soul I have been replaying Halo 1 and 2, which I haven’t played through the campaigns in years, so it has been like playing a whole new game! The replay-ability of these games - incredible, and you know, the graphics on the original XBox still aren’t so bad. But I bet those with the 360 and an HD television can beg to differ (yeah MOM).

I miss the days of playing against the boys, though. It seems the VS part of these games were always the heart of them, and getting a group of your friends together to frag them all down…oh! Heaven!

My Sims is meant to be the replacement of Animal Crossing for the Wii, and I have to say, even though it is a fun game to chill out with, it doesn’t fill the emptiness of Animal Crossing. I think with the wireless capabilities of the Wii, Nintendo could have done a AC like never before, but instead took the Sims license…

My Sims is much like the Sims, but you are this cutesy character that builds things, like houses, furniture, flower boxes, pretty much everything around town. But instead of buying the materials, you use essences - remember shaking that tree in AC and getting fruit?- yeah those are the essences. There are many different ways to get them, but shaking the trees is pretty much what you do in the beginning. I don’t know, I like this game, but I am a bit bitter about AC taking a backseat to it.

So that is my gaming life for the past couple of weeks! What have you girls (or guys) been doing?
